Acquire skills to deal with negative thoughts.

Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries.

Thursday 26th Nov. 2015

Doors open at 9:30 until 3:00

Students free, Adults £8 including light lunch.

The planning committee have taken into account the assessment given by our Rotary Peace Advocates, school leaders and put their requests into action.

Hence this year the day is midweek and supported by the Dumfries and Galloway Council‘s Director of Education.

Following the previous 2 years in Edinburgh it was agreed to start to move the venue to different areas of the District hence this Rotary year we are in Dumfries at the Easterbrook Hall on the Crichton Campus.

The Rotary Peace Advocates in schools wanted to tackle personal conflicts to demonstrate how to over come issues such as bullying, depression and stress. Our speakers reflect this and both have made outstanding achievements against all odds. They are Craig Hammond and Cara Henderson. Both have undergone personal trauma and have turned it into success.  Craig has been described as truly inspirational and a shining light to mankind.

Cara Henderson who founded the charity Nil by Mouth was awarded Scotswoman of the year 2015. She was the young girl who dared to stand up to the noise and the anger of sectarianism, after the brutal death of her friend on a Glasgow street. Peace Advocates will lead interactive sessions.  They will involve activities to tackle diversity, bias and opinion.

There will be in depth discussions with our speakers and a chance to learn conflict resolution skills.

The conference will have wide appeal to Rotarians, parents, professions and students from S3 upwards.

Your Rotarians and partners will not be disappointed with the speakers or the inspirational young people. No complicated registration process just send an email with your name and number of tickets required to register@rotarypeaceproject.com and a confirmation email will be issued.
